Artist Biographies


Mairead Alexander, Violin

Mairead Alexander is a freelance violinist and fiddle player, based in Baltimore, MD. Studying under violinist Dr. Airi Yoshioka, she holds a B.A. in violin performance from UMBC, and has performed at festivals on the East and West coasts of the U.S., Europe, and Mexico. An avid chamber musician, Mairead performs with the Gallery String Quartet, Two Rivers Chamber Music, El Paso Barrocco, and has acted as both concertmaster and soloist with the Blue Ridge Singers' chamber orchestra.

In addition to her career as a freelance and orchestral musician, Mairead also enjoys exploring and performing folk, traditional Irish, and Bluegrass styles, and is the fiddle player for Celtic rock band, Gaelic Mishap, and Bluegrass Americana group, The Gold Ponies. Since the spring of 2024, Mairead has also played with the electrified string-powered fusion group, Burnt Bridges. With a local music scene as vibrant as Baltimore’s, Mairead has had the pleasure of recording for acts such as Danah Denice, Plant Dad, Tristen Gressett, John Winfred II, Juniper Scott, Jackie Rose, Noelle Acaso, Knuckleberry Finn, and most recently, for a horror movie soundtrack!

lan Otto Collins, Guitar, Piano, Vocals

Ian Otto Collins is a multi-talented musician, teacher, and dance accompanist based out of Howard County, MD. His journey began on the drums, studying both classical and jazz percussion with master teachers Robert Miller, Frank Russo, Barry Dove, and Mike Kuhl. At age 17 he had the privilege of touring Europe with the highly esteemed Glenelg High School Jazz Ensemble, which included a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

A self-taught guitarist, singer, and pianist, Ian has been writing and performing for more than two decades. His solo acoustic act has entertained audiences of all kinds, from popular restaurants to the Champions Club at Nationals Stadium. As a band member he plays regularly with Americana/bluegrass group The Gold Ponies, Harford County’s favorite rock/country band Almost Brothers, and of course the Wild Roads Duo! He also thoroughly enjoys playing at senior homes, and has held long-time residencies at homes around Baltimore and the DMV.

Finally, Ian has had a long career playing music for dance. In 2016 he became Howard Community College’s first ever Music Coordinator for Dance. His original compositions have been commissioned by the HCC Dance Company as well as the Kinetics Dance Theatre, and helped get him to the final round of the Strathmore’s Artist in Residency program auditions. Ian also enjoys teaching lessons and helping students, especially beginners, build talent and confidence through music.
